Okay, so recently a friend at work turned me on to Sugar Mama, a small bakery downtown that recently opened. She insisted I get one of their salted caramel cupcakes (and oh man are they good!)
my boyfriend went the safe route and got a chocolate cupcake, and they’re absolutely amazing, too. The cake isn’t overly sweet, but those sworls of buttercream frosting are thick and flavorful, and the light sprinkling of salt is an amazing contrast with the creamy, heavy frosting.
For three dollars you can get a big ‘ol cupcake in vanilla, chocolate, salted caramel, chocolate hoo-hah (filled with marshmallow creme!), snickerdoodle, or lemon. They do custom cupcakes, custom cakes, and the bakery itself has a clean cafe feel. If you don’t want a ginormous cupcake (and they are big), you can get minis for $1.50.
